Η εγκυμοσύνη είναι μια μοναδική και ιδιαίτερη περίοδος στη ζωή της γυναίκας και χαρακτηρίζεται από πολλές μεταβολές στη φυσιολογία του οργανισμού . Σαν κομμάτι του οργανισμού, η στοματική κοιλότητα μπορεί να επηρεαστεί από τις νέες συνθήκες, αλλά και να επηρεάσει τη γενικότερη υγεία, όχι μόνο της εγκύου, αλλά και του εμβρύου.

Παρόλα αυτά, υπάρχει η τάση οι εγκυμονούσες γυναίκες να αποφεύγουν την οδοντιατρική περίθαλψη.

 

Η στοματική υγεία είναι αναπόσπαστο κομμάτι μιας υγιούς εγκυμοσύνης

Η κακή στοματική υγεία έχει συσχετιστεί με προβλήματα κατά την εγκυμοσύνη, με σημαντικότερα τη γέννηση λιποβαρών νεογνών (μωρά πιο μικρά από το φυσιολογικό) και τον πρόωρο τοκετό.

 

Μεταβολές στη στοματική κοιλότητα κατά την εγκυμοσύνη

  1. Ουλίτιδα και περιοδοντίτιδα- Επουλίδα της κυήσεως. Πολύ συχνά κατά την εγκυμοσύνη τα ούλα της γυναίκας εμφανίσουν έντονη αιμορραγία, πρήξιμο ή υπάρχει κινητικότητα των δοντιών. Λόγω των ορμονικών μεταβολών, οι φλεγμονές των ούλων εμφανίζουν έξαρση. Σε κάθε περίπτωση όμως, η οδοντική πλάκα είναι ο αιτιολογικός παράγοντας. Αυτό σημαίνει ότι με τη σωστή στοματική υγιεινή, μειώνεται σημαντικά η βαρύτητα των φλεγμονών.
  2. Τερηδόνα. Λόγω της υψηλής κατανάλωσης τροφών που περιέχουν ζάχαρη, μπορεί να δημιουργηθούν νέες εστίες τερηδόνας στα δόντια της εγκύου. Το σωστό βούρτσισμα και η κατανάλωση ζάχαρης με μέτρο μπορούν να αποτρέψουν τη δημιουργία νέων βλαβών.
  3. Διαβρώσεις. Λόγω των στομαχικών διαταραχών (εμετός), τα δόντια υπόκεινται στην επίδραση των οξέων του στομάχου, που μπορεί να προκαλέσουν μικρή απώλεια της αδαμαντίνης (σμάλτο). Το πλύσιμο του στόματος με λίγη μαγειρική σόδα αμέσως μετά την στομαχική διαταραχή βοηθάει στην πρόληψη των διαβρώσεων.

 

Οδοντιατρική φροντίδα και εγκυμοσύνη

Η πρόληψη, η διάγνωση και η θεραπεία των στοματικών παθήσεων μπορούν να πραγματοποιηθούν κατά τη διάρκεια της εγκυμοσύνης χωρίς να προκαλούν επιπλέον κίνδυνο για την μητέρα και το έμβρυο, σε σχέση με τον κίνδυνο να μην προσφερθεί οδoντιατρική θεραπεία.

 

Πρόληψη

Στον Προγεννητικό Έλεγχο, πρέπει να εντάσσεται και η οδοντιατρική φροντίδα της μέλλουσας εγκύου. Η θεραπεία των στοματικών νόσων πριν την εγκυμοσύνη προφυλάσσει την έγκυο από δυσάρεστες καταστάσεις. Οι ορμονικές και φυσιολογικές μεταβολές καθώς και η ευαίσθητη ψυχοσύνθεση της εγκύου κάνουν πιο έντονη τη δυσάρεστη εμπειρία ενός στοματικού προβλήματος.

Τα οδοντικά μικρόβια που αποκτά το νεογέννητο παιδί μεταφέρονται απευθείας από το στοματικό περιβάλλον της μητέρας. Συνεπώς, η καλή στοματική υγεία της μητέρας σημαίνει και καλή στοματική υγεία για το παιδί.

 

Θεραπεία

Η οδοντιατρική αντιμετώπιση καλό θα είναι να περιορίζεται στα απολύτως απαραίτητα κατά το πρώτο και τρίτο τρίμηνο της εγκυμοσύνης. Το πρώτο τρίμηνο, γιατί είναι ιδιαίτερα σημαντικό στο σχηματισμό του εμβρύου και το τρίτο γιατί είναι δύσκολο για την έγκυο να παραμείνει για πολύ ώρα ξαπλωμένη και ακίνητη, ενώ μπορεί να υπάρξουν και επιπλοκές λόγω του stress.

Σε κάθε περίπτωση όταν υπάρχει οξύ πρόβλημα, είναι απαραίτητη η οδοντιατρική αντιμετώπιση, ανεξάρτητα από την ηλικία της κύησης. Αυτό μπορεί να περιλαμβάνει ακόμα και τις απαραίτητες διαγνωστικές ακτινογραφίες ή τη φαρμακευτική αγωγή, πάντα με τις κατάλληλες προφυλάξεις.

Ιδανικά, το δεύτερο τρίμηνο της εγκυμοσύνης προσφέρεται για την θεραπευτική αντιμετώπιση στοματικών προβλημάτων με μεγαλύτερη ασφάλεια.

 

Tips

  1. Επισκεφτείτε τον οδοντίατρο σας πριν την εγκυμοσύνη ή μόλις μάθετε το ευχάριστο νέο!
  2. Πλένετε σωστά τα δόντια σας 2 φορές την ημέρα. Υγιής μητέρα σημαίνει υγιές παιδί.
  3. Επισκεφτείτε τον οδοντίατρο σας μόλις νιώσετε κάτι ανησυχητικό στο στόμα σας κατά τη διάρκεια της εγκυμοσύνης.

Το 2008 εισήχθη στο τριετές Μεταπτυχιακό Πρόγραμμα Κλινικής Ειδίκευσης στην Ενδοδοντία. Κατά τη διάρκεια των Μεταπτυχιακών Σπουδών του συμμετείχε και στην κλινική εκπαίδευση των τελειοφοίτων στον τομέα της Ενδοδοντίας.

Από το 2012 μέχρι σήμερα διατηρεί ιδιωτικό οδοντιατρείο αποκλειστικής άσκησης Ενδοδοντίας στη Ρόδο.


Παρακολουθεί μεγάλο αριθμό συνεδρίων και επιστημονικών εκδηλώσεων σε Ελλάδα και Ευρώπη και συμμετέχει σε αρκετά από αυτά ως ομιλητής.
